Oscar & Emily is the oldest--not to mention the only--coed jazz a cappella group at Swarthmore College. The details of our birth may be lost to history, but it goes a little something like this: despite the large (and ever-increasing) number of a cappella groups at Swarthmore, some cool kids realized that none of them sang any jazz, and decided to remedy that situation. We currently have a whopping seven members. Here's the cool part, we have a great range of voices amongst the four men and three women in the group. We sing all kinds of things--standards as well as some songs that were probably never meant to be sung at all. We now have a real tenor! We knew that some day he'd come along. We scat. We're a little twisted and too darn hot, but sometimes we do decide to straighten up and fly right. It's nice work, if you can get it.
