SASA’s mission is to showcase the beautiful and diverse culture of Africa while drawing attention to important events on the continent as well. We also serve as a support group aimed at positively affecting the lives of African students on the Swarthmore campus by creating and sustaining a sense of community among them in the spirit of African unity.

Part of SASA's mission is to enrich the experience of the general Swarthmore community by fostering a deeper awareness of issues concerning Africa and by working towards the expansion of the College's approved study-abroad programs in Africa. The organization also seeks to initiate and maintain ties with other African groups, especially in the Tri-College area and along the East Coast.
