Intern for Deputy State Director Basil Smikle. Drafted memos on congressional districts, housing, and minority service academy appointments. Assisted Russian-speaking constituents in their communications with the Senator. Represented the Senator at community events.

 

Federal District Court of the Southern District of New York, New York, NY (May 2002)

Extern in the chambers of the Honorable Denny Chin. Assisted law clerks with filing, checked citations on Kournikova opinion, and observed sentencing and mediation proceedings.

 

Juvenile Law Center, Philadelphia, PA (January 2002)

Extern in children’s civil rights and legal service organization. Assisted attorneys in filing of an amicus brief for a U.S. Supreme Court case, observed juvenile court proceedings, and attended juvenile law classes at Temple University.

Volunteer weekly after-school tutor. Assisted underprivileged local high school students in preparation for SATs, worked through math, vocabulary concepts, and test techniques.

 

CREATIVE EXPERIENCE

Freelance Photography (January 2000   present)

Lone Star Construction. Created video documentary and photo collage for major real estate company.

Swarthmore College Bulletin. One photograph selected out of 1500 submissions for student feature. 

Kaori Kitao Gallery. Presented one solo exhibit and one exhibit with ceramics artist Galun O’Toole.

Daily Californian. Published one to three photographs per bi-weekly issue of Berkeley newspaper.

Time Out New York. Published twenty photographs in weekly issues, annual eating and drinking guide, and student guide as photography department intern.

RollingStone. Assisted chief photographer Mark Seliger on Chris Rock and other cover shoots as intern.

 

Worthstock Music Festival (February 2003 – May 2003)

Director, fundraiser, and promoter. Secured $7,500 in funding, contracted five musical acts, and coordinated sound and promotions for the largest Swarthmore College music festival of the year.

 

WSRN 91.5 FM, Swarthmore, PA (September 1999 -  June 2003)

Promotions director, Programming director, and Blues/Soul/Funk director. Created all aspects of radio promotions, established relationships with numerous independent blues record labels, acquired new releases, reviewed, and promoted them on weekly radio shows. Co-wrote new station charter. Scheduled all daily broadcasts and served as liaison between the board of directors and the media.

Software: Proficient in word processing, spreadsheets, image editing, and Web search techniques.

 

Web Design: Proficient in hand-coding HTML, XHTML, and basic CSS according to web accessibility standards.  Design and maintain a personal website (May 1999 – present).
