Things essential to any character: Raison d’etre: a driving goal of some sort. Detail: there is no such thing as too much; the more detail, the more reasons there are for doing things. Failings: these allow you to have to think through situations, and give room to grow into. If the character can do everything he’s supposed to as well as possible at creation, there’s no room to grow. Things essential to a Wraith/ Mummy/ Kuei-jin character: Incomplete life: somehow, you’re not done even though you’re dead. Dark side: there is a strong part of you that is animalistic and feral. Things essential to a Werewolf/ Mage/ Changeling character: Life before the change: you were never really human. How was your life strange before the change? Mage Character Q’s: How old are you? How was your life different before your Awakening? What were the events surrounding your Awakening? What was your upbringing? Who are your friends and family? When did you first encounter Magic? How did you join the Traditions? How did you join your Cabal? How do you deal with the mundane world? Who was your mentor and how was your apprenticeship? Mage Player Q’s: What’s your motive as a player? What facets of the world/ the character do you want to explore? Does your character have a sense of his future? How does your character see her mystic path? Most Mages had a plan for their mundane lives before discovering their mystical ones. What conflicts wait in the road of mystical development? Werewolf Char Q’s: How old are you? How long since your First Change? What was your family life like? Were you with your real parents, and, if so, was one Garou, and off fighting the Wyrm while you grew up, at least until your First Change? When, where and why was your First Change? Did a Kin-fetch spirit alert nearby Garou to your presence, and lead them to you? If you were metis, how were you prepared for this? What was your Rite of Passage? Was it solo or with others? When did you meet your packmates? Why did you join the pack? Where do you live now? At the caern? In an apartment? A cabin? The woods? How are you contacted, etc? Do you have neighbours? Do you continue to live a normal life, or interact with those who knew you before your Change? Do you try to keep this "normal" life secret from other Garou? What motivates you? Why do you feel the need to save Gaia? What other motivations, desires, goals do you have? Werewolf Pack Q’s: Where is the pack based? (Territory claimed, homes of members/ communal living, etc.) What is the pack’s mission? What goals and motivations unite the pack? Who, if anyone, is pack alpha? What is the pack’s Totem? Why do you follow this Totem? Did it choose you or vice versa? What is the pack’s Sept like? (Name, leaders, elders, Totem, duties to the spirits, etc.) Does the pack have friends and/ or allies? What about enemies? Vampire Char Q’s: How old are you? What was unique about your childhood? What kind of person were you? What was your first brush with the supernatural? How did the Embrace change you? Who was your Sire, and how did s/he treat you? Were you presented to the Prince? How did you meet the others in your coterie? Where is your haven?
