This page has been spawned from my work with Professor Carr Everbach in the Swarthmore College Acoustics Lab. We are currently developing an inexpensive hydrophone capable of characterizing the extremely high-frequency, high-pressure fields developed in lithotripters. These devices produce powerful shockwaves used to break up kidney stones without invasive surgery. So far, I just have two sources of information, though that ASA link up top leads to a wealth of web resources.
