Alberta Nova Scotia
In Canada, the general populaton is much more prone to pick up hitchhkikers. I go to school in Nova Scotia, where there are many Universities. I have hitched to my hometown which is about 5 hours away in about 5h30m. It's very easy because people know that many students don't have much money to pay for public transportation. The average wait is about 10 minutes. If you have a sign with the name of the school you're going to, it makes it even easier. The main thing is to look respectable. Good page!
red-neck city. took 2 hours to get out west-side of city with my brother. travelling with acoustic guitar helped once we were in the mountains. gave us conversation with drivers. tourist hot-spots like banff and canmore are a breeze, not more than 1/2hr ever. hope this helped.
