This page is mainly to keep a brief record of my life - or at least
a record of the updates I've made to my pages so when my brain has been
too fried by my work to remember what happened I'll be able to look it
up.
[january] [february] [march]
One more day of classes and I will officially be on spring break! This break I'm flying home to Ann Arbor to shadow doctors at the University of Michigan hospital, and I'll probably spend most of my spare time studying for the MCAT, so it won't exactly be relaxing, but it should be very interesting. A change of scenary should be nice as well, and I hear there may even be snow at home! This past saturday was the Screw Your Roomate dance (a double blind date affair), and I had the illustrious honor of having to wear a toga and yell something about needing a latin speaking god in Latin. It was very entertaining, and the dance was fun, despite the attempts of a pretty rotten D.J. to the contrary. The theme was black light, and my white shawl glowed an amazing purple! =)
I've actually been celebrating my break a bit early because my friend Audrey, who wedding I attended in january before school started, was back on campus to take her comp exams, so we hung out. In honor of her last evening here, we watched "Ever After" on tuesday night - such a sappy romance, and just what we needed.
Aside from the growing fear of the MCAT stemming from my difficulty in convincing myself to study nearly enough, things are going pretty well here at Swarthmore. I'm working on my classes perhaps a bit less than I could, but doing alright in them just the same. Despite the fear of finding a job for next year, there is something rather freeing about being a senior - at this point, with so many grades under my belt, it is unlikely that, baring total failure, my GPA will be severely affected, and all I need is one credit to graduate. There is still something entirely strange to me in the fact that by June I'll have a undergraduate degree. I still remember returning to my house the day I graduated from high school and sitting in my room just staring at my diploma in a strange sort of awe - staring at the sum of nearly twelve years of work. And here I am, ready to do it again...The Star Wars Countdown Site has become a regular stop lately whenever I happen to be surfing the web - it has fun spoiler-free information from all over the world, and people send in things every day - it hardly seems necessery to look anywhere else! If my excitement keeps building like this I'm not sure I'll survive until May 21st...
1999 has just begun, and already I'm behind, and not just in updating my website. Over winter break I finally decided that I am definately applying to medical school this year, which has added an entirely new dimension to my last semester at Swarthmore. This semester I have very light classes, with Spanish 2B, Languages of the World (linguistics), and Teaching the Young Learner (education), but studying for the MCAT and trying to find a job for next year have been keeping my pretty occupied.I've organized my 1998 journal into another Year That Was for easy browsing fun. I will try to update more often - if only so I don't arrive in June having forgotten what occurred in the previous months in a stress induced haze. Alright, that's a bit melodramatic - I'm doing fine and spending time with my friends in addition to work, I just have to plan it well...
